100 Days Till We Start Racing Again!
Greetings and salutations to the CASC-OR competitor community. Believe it our not, the "off season" is half over - there are only 100 days until we start the 2017 Road Racing season on May 13 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Spring Trophy Races (registration will be open soon).
Before the season starts, to get people in the mood and up to date on any rule and sponsor changes, we will be having a Pre-Season Drivers' Meeting on March the 4th at 11:00 am. The folks at Paragon Competition (http://www.paragoncompetition.com/) have generously offered to host this event. More details will follow in the next few days. This advance notice is just so you can keep the date open...

This winter a group of Clerks and other Officials went to work on reviewing our rule book. I'd like to thank Terry Dale for leading the group and Richard Muise for compiling the final document, as well as all of the other people that helped out on this project. We will be sending out a number of these broadcast e-mails over the next few weeks to bring your attention to the changes, but we strongly encourage everyone to have a look at the 2017 rule book for themselves before the season starts. You can find this year's rule book posted here:
Two of the changes that require particular attention are CASC-OR licencing in Appendix E, pg 25, and the 2017 Championship scoring system in Appendix P, Section 7.0 on page 70. We will be sending out detailed e-mails on both of these topics, but you should take a look for yourself right now. Thanks to Bill Bryans for all the work on scoring. The new system is designed to create a tighter championship in 2017 - you won't want to miss a single event this year.
And finally, we are going to try something exciting for GT Challenge in 2017. We are planning 1, 2 and 3 hour events, starting with a 3 hour session at the Spring Trophy Races May 13. We'll be using the same eligibility rules that we did for last year's Indian Summer event. That means PCA, CTCC, ChumpCar and other series' competitors will be welcome to enter. Please spread the word - ask anyone that is interested to contact me, the race director, at racedirector@casc.on.ca.
Thanks for your time - watch for more of these messages in the days and weeks to come.
See you at the track!
