Event Volunteers - Be A Part of the Racing World

Volunteer club members organize some of the continent's top road races.

Our associate clubs organize nearly fifty events a year, staffed and supported by their members.

After months of effort by the club-appointed Race Organizer, Event Registrars organize entrants, crew and volunteers, as well as media, guests and spectators. They check driver eligibility, collect fees, and provide accurate entry information for Timing and Scoring, which relays results and communicates with Race Control.

Meanwhile, paddock-area Scrutineers inspect vehicles and safety equipment; Grid Crew get drivers on track; Stewards resolve on-track driver issues while Judges of Fact observe the drivers' adherence to rules.

The corner marshals, dressed in white and located at corners around the racetrack, are those volunteers communicating track and race information to the drivers through the use of flags and hand signals. They are also responsible for communicating with Race Control using phones or radios, and providing immediate response to incidents on the track. Training of these workers is provided at no charge by the marshalling clubs, CRCA, MCO and MMS.

Pit Marshals provide direction and safety services in the pitlane. Medical and auxiliary response volunteers assist in the operation and smooth flow of the event, under the direction of senior race officials. Medical volunteers must be trained medical or paramedical practitioners.

Saturday nights feature worker barbeques, often with worker prize draws. Annual worker incentive awards and honourary trophies mark volunteer contributions to autosport in Ontario.
